Sort laundry correctly – so it dries faster and stays beautiful longer
Share
Sorting laundry? Sure, most people do that – but often only by color. It's worth taking a closer look. Because how you pre-sort your laundry not only affects the wash results – but also how quickly it dries and how long it stays looking good.
In this article, we'll show you how to cleverly pre-sort your laundry – and why it really pays off not only when washing, but also when drying.
👕 Why sorting does more than just protect colors
Of course, separating light and dark clothes is important—no one wants to accidentally pull a pink shirt out of the washing machine. But materials, thickness, and care instructions should also play a role in sorting, because different fabrics have completely different drying properties.
Examples:
- A thick cotton hoodie takes significantly longer to dry than a thin sports shirt.
- Wool does not tolerate strong spinning and should be treated very differently than jeans.
The more similar the materials are in a wash cycle, the easier it is to dry them together afterwards – without some items still being damp while others are already stiff.
📚 How to sort laundry correctly
1. By color
Washing light, dark and colored laundry separately – a classic, but mandatory.
2. According to material and fabric thickness
Do not mix cotton, microfiber, wool, etc. – especially if they have very different drying times.
3. According to care instructions
It’s worth taking a look at the labels: “Do not tumble dry,” “gentle wash,” “Do not spin” – all of these things play a role later when drying.
💨 Efficient drying on the clothes rack – with HEYDRY
If you properly pre-sort your laundry, HEYDRY really gets going. HEYDRY is placed under the clothes rack and creates a consistent airflow from below – completely without heat and at less than 1 cent per hour in electricity costs .
Thanks to the clever placement (thicker items in the middle, lighter items on the outside, all with a little space between them), each garment benefits optimally from the airflow. This wicks away moisture more quickly – and your laundry is dry in half the usual time .
